TSMC plans to manufacture 5-nm chips
- ACurrently, the most advanced companies are mastering the production technology of 7-nanometer chips, but the Taiwanese company TSMC decided to go even further. The following year, management has set a task for workers to launch an assembly line for the production of 5-nm microcircuits.
Since the 5-nanometer production is quite complicated and time-consuming, TSMC decided to use the help of third-party companies. So, the etching device will be provided by the Chinese company Shenzhen Zhongwei Semiconductor, and the lithographic apparatus will be provided by the Dutch ASML. The width of the track, created by the engraving machine, is about a thousand times narrower than a human hair, which is why it is so important to ensure maximum manufacturing accuracy.
