The new standard memory cards will allow them to accelerate by 400 percent

In the near future, smartphones will be able to work with cards whose maximum data transfer rate can reach almost 4 GB per second. The other day, the SD Association, which is developing new standards for SD cards, has announced the eighth generation of memory cards, with a maximum performance increase of 400 percent.

Within the framework of the unified SD 8.0 standard, two types of interface will be used: fast with a throughput of up to 4 GB/s on PCIe 4.0 x2 and slow with a throughput of up to 2 GB/s on PCIe 4.0 x1 and PCIe 3.0 x2.

A new type of memory can be used to implement tasks requiring a high data transfer rate, for example, to work with 8K video format or to transfer a large amount of information through wireless communication. Cards will be compatible with previous generation readers.
