Google dropped support for Daydream
- AFour years after the release, Google refuses to support its proprietary Daydream VR platform. However, this news was not unexpected, recently the platform has not been of interest not only to third-party software developers, but also to Google itself.
Simultaneously with the release of Daydream, the company introduced a headset View, in 2017 it was updated. Periodically, new applications were added to the platform, but over time the intensity of their release began to decrease rapidly, approaching zero.
Apparently, the platform has not met expectations, last year the company stopped supporting its program Play Movies & TV, then closed the streaming application Hulu. Samsung mobile devices did not support Daydream, starting with the release of Android 10, now Google has officially informed customers that in Android 11 VR-platform will not be supported.
