TSMC dramatically increased prices for microprocessors
- AThe world's leading microprocessor manufacturer TSMC suddenly increased the cost of its products. The price hike was 20 percent, a record increase in the company's history.
Given that the Taiwan chipmaker provides more than half of the market in the semiconductor industry, the rise in prices of its products will inevitably cause a jump in prices of smartphones, tablets and other devices. According to the Liberty Times, some customers are already working under the new TSMC price list.
Among the reasons that prompted the company to raise prices were high demand, huge investments in production (at least $100 billion will be spent on this) and worries about insufficient profitability.
By the way, TSMC has grand plans for the future. The possibility of organizing production in Japan is being considered, as well as a large plant is already being built in Arizona.
