Enthusiasts created the battery free Game Boy
- AA group of scientists from the Netherlands recreated the Nintendo Game Boy, but unlike the original set-top box, it doesn't need batteries at all. Around the screen of the device are solar panels, which are enough for about 10 seconds of the device. The device can be further recharged by actively pressing the buttons. Thus, by pressing the buttons intensively, you can play almost infinitely.
Don't forget about the environmental aspect of the concept as well - if you don't use batteries or rechargeable batteries, you will benefit the environment.
Thanks to the built-in emulator, the device gives users the opportunity to play directly with the cartridges, and the use of intermittent computing technology allows you to automatically save game data in case of power failure, unlike the classic set-top box, which does not save the progress of the game when the battery runs out.
