Fuchsia has been released. Google will install it on branded smart displays
- AFive years ago it became known that Google was developing a completely new operating system to replace Android. Apparently, the company has managed to implement the plan. At least, there were reports about the release of Fuchsia.
According to the publication 9to5Google, developed from scratch platform will initially be used in the company's smart displays Nest Hub. The average user is unlikely to see a difference between the Cast OS currently working with displays and the new operating system due to identical functionality.
Switching to the new OS is not the easiest procedure and will take about a couple of months. It is clear that the introduction of Fuchsia on smart displays is only the first step of the developer and its prospects will directly depend on the efficiency and usability of the system. There is a chance that within a few months the developer will try to use it for other smart home devices.
Hiroshi Lockheimer, a senior vice president at Google, insists that due to the enormous diversity of the Internet of Things, there is not much of a problem in using several platforms of different characteristics simultaneously for a particular line of devices.
